Riverview Rebel

What an honor for Masha and for us! She earned the Rebel award for the Junior High School, which only 6 from each grade receive each year. This is what the certificate said about Masha:

It has been a great pleasure to get to know our Riverview Rebel, Masha Benson. Masha is from the Ukraine, and I am so impressed at how quickly she is learning the English language--speaking, writing and reading. She has to be one of the hardest workers in class. She is always on time, prepared, and gets right to work on her assignments.
Masha likes to have fun, too. She likes to play and listen to the piano. Her favorite animals are dogs, cats, horses and tigers--OH MY! Her favorite class is art, and she really enjoys Mrs. Morgan as her art teacher.
Her favorite food is mashed potatoes with salad, so holiday feasts are fun for her! She also enjoys summertime so she can swim and play wither her friends and family.
She works really well with Mrs. Woodall, the ESL instructor. Masha is always smiling, and she has nothing but kind words for those around her.
Masha is a delight to have in class, as I am sure all her teachers agree.
Congratulations, Masha! Keep up the good work.
The Vice Principle giving her her medal.

Reading about why her teachers love her. She really has done such a great job so far this year. We are very proud of her. She has near straight A's! We talked in Ukraine a lot about how hard she would have to work in order to get good grades in America. She hasn't let us down. She is amazing! I'm sure I wouldn't be as successful at my ripe age trying to do what she is accomplishing. They awarded her with a medal, pin, certificate, a fast pass (to get at the front of lines at school), and $20 dollars cash. WOW! Way to go Masha!
