Bonfire and Dubai

Our first day with Sharon and L.Jay in town was spent at home enjoying a conference session.  Our building was being used by the young adults in the stake so we had an extra day to watch conference, which worked out well for the two being a bit jet-lagged.  That evening there was a bonfire out in the sand dunes with many  of the ward members.  We didn't get there in time to see sundown in the desert which I was bummed about.

Drew and another dad found a scorpion!  I've never seen one outside a cage before, this one was quite large.   After seeing this I was ready to pack up the kids and go.  No scorpion stings for me, thank you!
We went to the Dubai Aquarium which is located within the Dubai Mall (the largest mall in the world-it was HUGE!).  They also have one of the largest aquarium tanks in the world, which is what this picture is of.
And they have one of the largest crocs in captivity.  There is a picture of the real croc later on down this post.

 Anastasia "kissing" a fish.

Bryce "kissing" a fish.  There are a lot of these pictures-the kids and Drew think it's pretty fun to try and capture this pose!

Grandma and Grandpa-loving having them with us!!!
An otter show.  They were adorable.

 Holy cow! Long neck!

 Touching the starfish...

King croc--in the background.  He was removed for the safety of the public from a Botanic garden in Australia.  They put him into captivity to keep him from relocating back in the garden.

 EEWWW!

Global Village in Dubai.  This is a one-stop cultural shopping trip, where different countries have set up booths to sell their own goods.
 Africa

Dinner!  This is humous, a salad named fattoush and we had shawarma with their traditional pita bread.  Their pita bread was super thin, almost looked like paper!  It was a delicious dinner-loved it!
An African dance to end the evening.
