January and February Happenings

Our preschool friend that we're carpooling with.  He loves the boys.

Making humous with my Bosch.  Yes your US appliances can be used here.  You just have to make sure you have the appropriate transformer for your voltage.  Do NOT let anyone tell you that you have to get rid of all your appliances, it's much easier to just get yourself a nice little transformer!

Bookclub in January!  Look at all those flip flops-love it!
Tyler got stuck in our churches elevator.  Our kids have been told not to ride the elevator anymore.

Bryce put on a Cub Scout carnival for families in our ward.  As you can see, it was a great success.  Good job Bryce!

Rylee getting comfortable.  Mom, not so much.
We bought kayaks!  Enough for the whole family, so we've really enjoyed taking them out.  This was their maiden voyage with the family.  A day out with a few other ward members.  So fun!
These are pictures taken in area named Eastern mangroves.  It's sagebrush trees that you can zigzag through and explore for wildlife.  We saw some flamingoes in the distance.  They weren't close enough to get a good picture.

 Anastasia and Tyler.

 JR and Bryce.

Anastasia and Tyler getting lost in the trees.

The kids met Bumblebee in a parking garage!

QASR AL HOSN FESTIVAL

This festival celebrates the preservation of the Al Hosn Fort.  They depict many ways of life that sustained their people just 40-50 years ago.

Pearl diving and opening a clam looking for its pearl.
 A mens dance.
 Jewelry making.
Foil ribbon making.  This was the most fun for me.  They taught me how to make the foil trimmed ribbon that adorns their girls' dresses.  We met an Emirate woman that had done schooling in USA (even some in Utah) and she gave Lily one of these dresses adorned with the ribbon.  So sweet of her-she had a baby about the same age.
 The fort.
 Rylee with her new necklace.

 Other views of the fort.

Happy Birthday to Bryce!  He's 10!  Lily presented him with his favorite birthday gift.

Bryce's birthday breakfast, complete with bacon :).
