Ukraine Trip Day 1 – 1/3 of the way there.
We left Friday night at Midnight from Salt Lake City to JFK on Jetblue arriving bright and early at 6 A.M. New York time, 4 A.M. Utah time. WE gathered our luggage and paid for a luggage storage service to hold our bags for the day. Our flight for Kiev did not depart JFK until 5:30 p.m. New York time. Why would I schedule a flight with such a big layover? It saved me $200 per ticket and gave us the chance to see New York for the first time and not just from the airport. Despite being very tired, since we did not get any sleep on the plane, we found our way to the subway system and proceeded to Manhattan. We needed assistance at almost every turn from the locals to make sure we were going in the right direction. We soon found ourselves in Times Square with an hour to give before our 6 hour See it all in 1-day Bus tour would begin. Although we did get off the bus a few times, this was a see it all tour and not a touch or visit and take pictures tour. A quick stop in Central Park gave us a few photos. We then filmed some video footage of our Water Taxi ride to close to Liberty Island where we were able to listen to patriotic music and take pictures of the Statue of Liberty. We were then dropped off in Brooklyn where we jumped back on a waiting bus and toured Brooklyn in the same drive and see fashion as the Manhattan tour. I don’t know if our group was just slow, but we were behind schedule. This had Jen feeling very anxious as she did not want to miss our flight to Ukraine. After counseling with our tour guide, we left our tour group in Brooklyn to walk a few blocks and find the Subway to return to the airport. I am typing this piece from the airportas we arrive in plenty of tiem. Jen is sitting peacefully reading her book.
I believe this is my first post. Thanks for reading. Drew
